THE GRACE LIGHT GUIDE
A guide to laser, light & skin tightening.
Understand what you notice. Explore what can change.
Meet XERF radiofrequency, ClearLift laser, DYE-VL IPL and the Signature Duo-Laser Facial. Different technologies, with different reasons to consider them.
RADIOFREQUENCY / XERF
Firmness.
LASER / CLEARLIFT
Skin quality.
IPL / DYE-VL
Clarity.
A starting point for understanding.
A personal assessment connects the dots.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
Different changes.
Different starting points.
A sunspot that seems more noticeable. Redness that lingers. Fine lines that have gradually become more defined.
A softening jawline or skin that feels less firm can be part of the picture, too. These changes can appear together, but they do not always have the same cause. Understanding what is happening in your skin is the first step toward choosing a treatment that makes sense.
FIRMNESS
Less support &
softer contours
When mild laxity affects how skin holds its shape, RF tightening may be worth discussing. Skin laxity and volume loss need different consideration.
COLOR
Brown spots &
uneven tone
Localized pigment can create visible patches or spots. The first question is what kind of pigmentation you have, because sunspots and melasma need different consideration.
REDNESS
Visible vessels &
persistent redness
Small blood vessels near the surface can contribute to visible redness. Understanding the cause helps determine whether light treatment belongs in your plan.
SKIN QUALITY
Fine lines &
changes in texture
Aging and changes in the skin’s supporting structure can affect how skin looks and feels. Rejuvenation treatments aim for gradual improvement in selected concerns.
THE SCIENCE, SIMPLIFIED
Different energy.
Different effects.
Laser and IPL use light. XERF uses radiofrequency electrical energy. All are energy-based treatments, but they interact with tissue differently. Specific wavelengths and pulses of light create specific effects in the skin. Some target melanin, the pigment in brown spots. Others target hemoglobin, the pigment in blood that makes vessels visible.
Rejuvenation treatments can also create controlled effects that support remodeling. The wavelength, pulse duration, energy and delivery method all influence the response.

LASER / A SPECIFIC WAVELENGTH
Focused delivery
ClearLift uses a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, delivering very short energy pulses. Its fractional rejuvenation approach treats small areas within the skin while preserving the surface.

Selective light
IPL / A FILTERED BAND OF WAVELENGTHS
IPL means intense pulsed light. DYE-VL uses a narrow band of this light to address selected pigment and vascular concerns. IPL and laser are different technologies.

RADIOFREQUENCY / CONTROLLED TISSUE HEATING
Support through heat
XERF creates heat as radiofrequency current meets resistance in tissue. It is designed to support collagen contraction and remodeling. It does not target brown or red color the way pigment- and vessel-focused IPL does.
MEET YOUR OPTIONS
Four options.
A purpose for each.
You do not need to choose a device before your consultation. Start with the change you would like to understand.
SKIN FIRMNESS & DEFINITION
XERF
Structural Skin Tightening
A non-invasive approach to skin firmness and definition.
XERF uses radiofrequency energy to create controlled heating within tissue. Rather than relying on light, it works through RF technology designed to support collagen contraction and remodeling beneath the surface.
It may be worth discussing for mild to moderate skin laxity, early loss of firmness, or areas where a tighter, more defined look is the goal. Treatment settings can be adjusted to different depths, and integrated cooling is used to help support comfort during treatment.
XERF is a non-surgical treatment. It does not create the same result as a surgical lift, and outcomes vary based on anatomy, treatment area, and the condition of the skin.
FINE LINES & SKIN REJUVENATION
ClearLift Anti-Aging
Lunchtime Facelift
A gradual approach to smoother-looking skin.
ClearLift is non-ablative: it works without intentionally removing the outer layer of skin. Its rejuvenation approach supports remodeling beneath the surface, with fine lines and overall skin quality among the concerns discussed during consultation.
It may appeal to someone seeking subtle improvement with little interruption to their routine. Results develop over time, and a series may be recommended.
“Lunchtime facelift” describes convenience. ClearLift does not reposition facial tissues or create a surgical facelift result.
SELECTED PIGMENT & VISIBLE VESSELS
DYE-VL IPL Photofacial
A focused approach to uneven color.
DYE-VL uses narrow-band pulsed light to treat selected benign pigmented and vascular lesions. Depending on your skin and diagnosis, that may include sun-related brown spots or visible small vessels.
Light absorbed by the target converts to heat. The body can then gradually clear treated pigment or reduce the visibility of treated vessels.
Light treatment may help some visible signs of rosacea. It does not cure rosacea or replace other care that may be needed.
A PERSONALIZED COMBINATION
Signature Grace Light
Duo-Laser Facial
Two technologies. One considered plan.
Our Signature Duo pairs ClearLift with DYE-VL IPL when both are appropriate for your skin. It brings together rejuvenation and color-focused treatment for people with more than one concern.
Your provider will determine whether combining them is suitable or whether separate sessions make more sense. Some people will be better served by one treatment.
Despite the name, this pairing includes one laser and one IPL treatment. XERF is a separate service and is not part of the Signature Duo. Your provider can discuss a broader plan if appropriate.
AT A GLANCE
Treatment | Technology | Primary Conversation |
|---|---|---|
Signature Duo | ClearLift + DYE-VL IPL | Multiple concerns, when both treatments fit |
DYE-VL | Narrow-band IPL | Selected brown spots and visible vessels |
ClearLift | Q-switched Nd:YAG laser | Fine lines and gradual skin rejuvenation |
XERF | Multifrequency monopolar RF | Firmness, mild to moderate laxity and related contour concerns |
A starting point for discussion. Suitability, settings and timing require an individual assessment.

YOUR SKIN SETS THE DIRECTION
The right treatment
starts with the
right assessment.
Your skin tone, history and current condition all shape a thoughtful plan. Suitability for one technology does not automatically mean suitability for the others.
RF has its own considerations.
XERF does not depend on targeting melanin, but skin health and treatment settings still matter. Tell your provider about implanted electronic devices, metal implants, pregnancy, active skin conditions and prior facial procedures.
Natural pigment matters.
Melanin is present in healthy skin as well as dark spots. Pigment-targeting treatments must account for that background pigment, especially in deeper skin tones. Previous pigment changes and treatment reactions also matter. A test spot may be appropriate.
A recent tan changes the conversation.
Recent tanning can change how skin absorbs light and increase risks. Tell your provider about sun exposure and tanning products, even if your skin does not feel sunburned.
Melasma needs its own plan.
Melasma is different from an isolated sunspot. Laser or light treatment may be considered in selected cases, often alongside other care, but should not be assumed to be the first step.
FROM CONSULTATION TO PROGRESS
What happens next?
Before
Understand the goal.
Discuss medical history, medications, implanted devices, skincare, recent sun exposure and past procedures. Know what treatment can reasonably change before you begin.
During
Treat with intention.
Sensation varies. XERF can feel warm with variable discomfort; IPL may snap or sting. ClearLift is generally described as comfortable. Your provider selects protection and comfort measures for the procedure.
After
Give skin time.
Temporary redness, warmth or swelling may occur with these treatments. XERF can also leave tenderness; IPL-treated pigment may darken before clearing. Follow your procedure-specific aftercare.
Over Time
Review the response.
Color changes, skin rejuvenation and firmness develop at different speeds. Allow time to heal and assess progress before deciding on the next treatment.
Little downtime does not mean no risk. Burns, blistering, pigment changes, scarring or unwanted tissue effects can occur. Eye injury is a risk with laser and IPL without appropriate protection. Contact your provider about unexpected or worsening symptoms.
A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Good questions.
Honest answers.
Understanding your options should leave you feeling informed and comfortable asking more.
Why is XERF in a laser and light guide?
XERF broadens the conversation to skin tightening. It uses radiofrequency, not laser or IPL. We include the technologies together to help you understand their different roles before deciding what to explore.
How is XERF different from ClearLift?
The difference lies in the technology, treatment depth, and goal. ClearLift uses non-ablative laser energy to refine tone and texture while supporting subtle firming with minimal downtime. XERF uses multifrequency radiofrequency energy across multiple tissue depths for more structural skin tightening, making it better suited for concerns such as laxity along the jawline, lower face, and neck. Some goals may overlap, and your provider will recommend the approach best suited to your skin.
Can XERF replace a facelift?
No. XERF is a non-surgical option designed to improve mild to moderate skin laxity and create a firmer, more defined appearance. It may soften the look of sagging along the jawline and lower face, but it cannot remove excess skin or reposition deeper facial tissues the way surgery can.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients begin with a series of two to four sessions, depending on whether ClearLift or XERF is selected and how their skin responds. Your provider will customize the plan around your degree of laxity, skin condition, anatomy, and goals. Progress will be reviewed throughout the series, with maintenance recommended only when it meaningfully supports your results.
Does more peeling mean better results?
Peeling is not a universal measure of effectiveness. ClearLift’s non-ablative approach is designed to preserve the surface. The intended response depends on the technology and treatment goal.
Will treatment permanently fix redness?
Treatment may reduce existing visible vessels, but new ones can develop. Conditions such as rosacea still need ongoing management, including appropriate skincare and trigger management.
Can every dark spot be treated with IPL?
A spot should first be identified. Melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and sunspots can require different approaches. New, changing or unusual spots need medical assessment before cosmetic treatment.
Is the Signature Duo right for everyone?
Both ClearLift and DYE-VL must be suitable for your skin. Combining them is not automatically better. Your provider may recommend one technology, separate sessions or a different approach.
