Is Lutronic ULTRA different from LaseMD ULTRA?
They refer to the same upgraded 1927 nm fractional thulium laser platform. “Lutronic ULTRA” is the manufacturer's current shortened branding, while “LaseMD ULTRA” is also used in product documentation and regulatory materials. The major upgrade is from the earlier, original LaseMD platform.
What makes the ULTRA platform more advanced?
Compared with earlier LaseMD technology, ULTRA adds a 20W maximum-power platform, a larger microbeam and energy-delivery controls including IntelliTrak tracking and Controlled Chaos Technology. These features enable more efficient, customizable treatment delivery, but don't guarantee a specific cosmetic outcome.
Is ULTRA right for my skin tone?
The manufacturer describes ULTRA as suitable for a wide range of skin tones. Your provider still needs to evaluate your skin type, pigmentation history, medications and treatment goals before recommending a protocol.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your starting point, the concern being treated, the intensity chosen and your goals. Some clients notice improvement after one visit, while others may benefit from a series and periodic maintenance.
Does more power mean more downtime?
Not necessarily. Maximum device power is not the same as the energy delivered in your treatment. Your provider adjusts settings for your skin and goals, and recovery depends on the selected protocol.
Can it help melasma or active acne?
Pigment disorders and active acne deserve individualized medical assessment. Although select protocols may be discussed for related skin concerns, melasma can worsen with inappropriate laser treatment and ULTRA should not be described as a universally suitable solution for either condition.
When can I use makeup or active skincare again?
Follow your provider's specific instructions. Timing depends on treatment intensity and how your skin recovers; do not resume exfoliants, retinoids or other active products until cleared.
